Krishna Sathish, born in the culture-rich weavers district of Kannur and brought up in multiple cities across India, was exposed to various cultures and languages, shaping her interest in art from a young age. She trained in Bharatanatyam from the age of five, performed on various stages throughout the years, and dreamt of becoming a fashion designer from the age of twelve. In 2018, during her final year in design college, Krishna worked on a documentary project with the Khadi weaving communities of Payyanur alongside Sandra. Their fascination for handloom textiles drove them to develop a capsule design collection which they showcased at various events. This designer duo then interned at a philanthropic design house and eventually migrated to different cities to forge their respective careers. Regardless of the distance they kept their friendship alive through their shared passion for fashion, art, culture, cuisines, and traveling. After graduating in Fashion Designing from Manipal University, she then worked as a designer in the retail sector and her knack for spotting trends landed her in her next job as a curator for a multi-designer house.

Vasitha’s affinity for textiles was nurtured in Payyannur, a quaint town renowned for its hand-weaving clusters. Growing up among the children of local weavers, she spent countless hours in her friends’ homes, surrounded by the rhythmic sounds of looms. This exposure allowed her to witness firsthand the decline of the weaving communities as industrialization took hold. Despite her own life taking a different path, with marriage and motherhood leading her to migrate across multiple cities, Vasitha’s passion for crafts endured. She found solace in learning diverse hand embroideries, a hobby that brought her immense joy. Her enthusiasm was reignited when her daughter Krishna pursued a degree and a career in fashion design, sharing her mother’s love for textiles. During Krishna’s college summer break, Vasitha encouraged her and her best friend Sandra to create a documentary showcasing the local Khadi weaving communities around. This experience and everything that happened later on culminated in Krishna setting up Weavers Stores, a Khadi fashion and lifestyle brand, with the guidance and support from Vasitha, as Director, Investor, and a loving mother. Through Weavers Stores, they envision revitalizing the fading hand-weaving communities in their hometown and all across India.

Born and raised in Calicut, India’s first UNESCO ‘City of Literature’ and a historical coast known for its handicrafts and sculptures deeply influenced Sandra to acquire a taste in all things cultural right from her childhood. She developed a passion for learning Indian classical dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattom from the young age of three and performed on many national and international stages over the years. One of her fondest childhood memories was of spending time at her mother’s art & craft gallery and expanding her skills in illustration, mural painting, jewellery making, knitting, crocheting, and practicing traditional hand embroidery techniques authentic to different Indian states. Her creative endeavours led her to pursue a degree in fashion design from Manipal University, which had a meticulous curriculum curated by veteran fashion designer & activist Wendell Rodricks. During her first year of college, Sandra began modelling for the designs she created and soon got opportunities to be a part of several photoshoots. Competing and winning a cover girl contest of one of India’s largest magazines opened up a pathway for her into the realm of professional modelling and thereby gracing the covers of fashion magazines, walking the ramp for shows, acting in music videos,
